Users who wish to check if their device is eligible for update can do it manually:

1. Go through Start

2. Flick left to the App list

3. Hit Settings > Phone update

While the handset is connected to a desktop PC:

1. Go through Start

2. Zune > Settings > Phone > Update

Microsoft announced:

Before updating your phone, the Zune software and Windows Phone 7 Connector for Mac will attempt to back up your phone data to your computer, so you’ll need to know how much space your data is using on your phone.
