It’s months away from release, but a truckload of new details, which we’ll class as rumours for now, have dropped about the iPhone 4G. Read on for more.

The Wall Street Journal writes that the next 4.0 iPhone will appear within a similar time frame as previous iPhones – so around June then. It’ll boast a 960×640 resolution screen, although that’s a 3:2 aspect ratio display, where we were expecting a snazzy new 16:9 screen.

The iPhone 4G will use a processor based on the same tech as the iPad’s A4 chip, although it might not have the same clock speed. The extra power would come in handy though because the new iPhone OS 4.0 will allow for multi-tasking of third party apps – which will be useful for listening to music or internet radio while playing or working on other apps.

The hardware will be manufactured by Hon Hai, which has taken on these duties with previous iPhones, and a CDMA version is planned – although that’s only really of interest to US folks. Add these latest rumours to those of the front-facing camera and iPhone social network and we’re starting to get a pretty complete picture of what the iPhone 4G will be like. Are you excited yet?
